The countdown to the 2017 Kampala City Festival has begun and the organisers say this year will be greater than before.

KCCA officials on Wednesday revealed during the Festival grand launch at City Hall in Kampala that this grand feast will present an unprecedented dimension in the history of the festival, characterised by fresh additions.

Organised under theme “Revel Diversity,” this 6th, 7th and 8th October 2017 event is aimed at celebrating who we are and the facets that uniquely depict our profusion of brilliant culture and social life.

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) executive director, Ms Jennifer S Musisi points out that this year’s celebration “will be special, it will be bigger and longer.”

“Kampala City Festival has become a national, regional and international event. This time around, it will also feature a charity concert [6 October, 2017]. This is a first of its kind.” Ms Musisi said during the launch.

She added that this charity concert is aimed at raising money to renovate and better equip the KCCA schools.

During his speech, Mr John Ddumba, the Kampala City Festival Chairman introduced the organizing team and sponsors that include Airtel Uganda, Inter Aid Uganda, NBS TV, Bell Lager, Total Uganda and Movit Products Uganda LTD among others.

It was also announced that Bongo Flava recording artist and dancer Naseeb Abdul Juma aka Diamond Platnumz will perform at the Festival.

Public figures spotted at the launch included Pastor Wilson Bugembe and Coopy Bly who are expected to perform at among others the Christian stage lifted at Sheraton Hotel.
