“It’s amazing…Tonight we have made 1000 likes on our fun page..Thank you family, thanks Mugerwa Caleb Mukasa”

Just above is the last statement that was posted on New Testament’s  official facebook page.

Death is of course a horrible thing, only made worse when someone is taken at a young age, in or before their prime, leaving a promising legacy behind them.

Countless musicians and artists have passed away least expected through tragic means – be it natural causes or unavoidable accidents. Certain deaths have no doubt had a huge impact on how the gospel industry has developed over time in Uganda.

We are all saddened by the death of renowned gospel artiste New Testament who was knocked down by a Police Patrol car on Tuesday around 10pm in Bwaise and rushed to Mulago Hospital.

That very morning of the accident, we tried to get in touch with him, calling his mobile phone but all efforts were unsuccessful, likewise the manager.

As the day proceeded, through his close friend T Bone Bonny, we were informed about the seriousness of the incident and the details of his admission to hospital.

Just before a great deal could be done, news hit us that he [New Testament] had gone to be with the Lord the proceeding morning; 5am.

No details have been release by the police as to the alleged Police Patrol car that knocked him down.

Sources indicate that medics from Mulago reported saying that he died of brain contusion, a bruise of the brain tissue. Just like bruises that occur on other parts of the body, a brain contusion is caused by small blood vessel leaks.

Because they involve structural brain damage, contusions are more serious than concussions.

Apostle Grace, while expressing his condolences to New Testament’s relatives together with Bishop Isaiah Mbuga and the entire Phaneero family said, “No one who has tasted or glimpsed eternity has a wish to come back or the desire to have their earthly life extended, except for a divine assignment. Death is not the end of man. It’s just a passage where man ceases to live in flesh.”  ‎

Yesterday at 4pm, a church service was held at Christ’s Heart – Mukono and a vigil later on at Bulaya at 10pm.

Ever since the news circulated social media of the accident, it came as a shock that many thought it was hoax, especially his fellow artists and fans.

Fellow worshiper Brian Lubega explained the incident saying, “Sometimes we want to be hard on our emotions, they are emotions which can’t be hidden because they came from the purpose someone has carried out to impact a generation,”

“I tried to call yesterday thinking that it was a light accident that a brother got but the phone couldn’t go through and thought to myself I will go see him but saddened in the morning that a fellow gospel artist, a laborer in the kingdom, a man who served relentlessly has passed away,”

“Your songs were a substance that was unusual and life to many.” He added on to say.

“ My friend #New testament a fellow gospel minister from Phaneroo, you have gone too soon that it hurts so much in my heart ohhh no may our Lord Jesus Christ comfort your family your fans comfort all friends and pastors from Phaneroo Apostle Grace, Ps. Zack Mutyaba and Bishop Isaiah Mbugga. Mukama abagumye. May his soul rest in peace,” stated fellow artiste Jackie Senyonjo

As for today, multitudes have gathered for the burial service has been due 12 noon at Namutanda; Mityana town, after which he will be laid to rest.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the family, relatives and friends of New Testament.
