Why I have kept my name till now
The reason I still call my self Baby Gloria, I started singing when I was two years and eight months and, it is the name I was given as people wondered who [I] was in the industry – the new baby. It’s a name everybody knows and has grown up knowing. It is the name that has given me platform. It is who I am. It is my identity. If I’m going to re-brand, it is really going to take a long time, and a lot of work to actually do it.
Why I keep singing.
I really love singing. No one has ever forced me to [do it]. It is a gift from God that I really treasure. I believe that He [God] gave me this particular gift to minister, to touch very many kids lives – a young generation and the older generation because as I’m grow, I tend to speak to different age groups.
Doing ‘DNA’ song with Ruyonga
I felt really good because I knew I was actually breaking through to the youth generation. I felt good that I got a song that was going to sprout out my voice. I showcased myself and sang a song I composed so that people could hear what I actually am so far.
New Song ‘Remote Control’
It is my new single. A new composition about two and a half weeks old. How I came to compose this song happened this way; I was talking to someone. They were asking me to do something. I was like; I need to first ask my mum. They were like; you need to ask your mum before you do everything? My mum is like my remote controller. What she says is what I do. Then I remembered that our parents are a representation of God on earth. That means if God is my father, He controls me, He is my remote controller. He controls everything I do – the things I say, decisions I make. One of the lines in the song I say, ‘Yesu mpaa discernment, mpaa assistance.’ I don’t want to do things my self but, my remote controller to control me and give me discernment. That is the essence of the song.
Future Plans
Planing many things that include a video for ‘Remote Control’. It is going to be legit, better than all the videos I have. I pray I am getting more endorsements, you know I’m an ambassador for Movit Company. I pray I’m able to do better adverts, go places, do better videos and music. I’m praying God blesses me with better things this year and next year – more Awards.
Baby Gloria said this while speaking to the host of Urban TV’s Rapture Ready program, Timothy Mugenyi on Sunday. Real name, Gloria Mulungi Ssenyonjo, she is daughter of legendary gospel singer Betty Nakibuuka.
