What happened to the fear of God in the Church?

At this stage the Holy Spirit is resisted and truth is despised.

By Pastor Ben Ochola

Proverbs 8:13

“The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.”

When the fear of God leaves a people, their hearts becomes hardened towards truth.

At this stage the Holy Spirit is resisted and truth is despised.

Acts 7:51

“Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.”

To be stiifnecked is to insist on your ways against all warnings. Uncircumcised ears are ears given to carnality and not interested in spiritual things that promote godliness.

At this backslidden stage, they will use scriptures to defend their point of view which is already shewed.

A hardening of heart progresses to a deadened conscience.

1 Timothy 4:1-2

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;”

Have seducing spirits taken over our pulpits and doctrines of demons being promoted? At this stage one does not only commit sin but approves the sin without any sense of conviction or shame.

Proverbs 3:7

“Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil”

Spiritual principles are propagated for outward approval but the heart has departed from truth.

Here one rides on reputation and the achievements of yesterday.

Clouds without rain and wells without water.

Revelations 3:1

“…..  I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.”

God must visit the body of Christ in this nation and restore the fear of God in the hearts of the believers.

This sloppy lifestyle we are seeing today in the church is a clear sign that we have departed from the ancient paths.

Jeremiah 6:16

“Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. …”

Let’s consider our ways individually and humbly seek God to restore us to the place of true fellowship with God.

All these restlessness we see today in the church is because we have raised a generation obsessed with the hand of God more than the face of God.

Let’s get back to Presence of God for God and not for what He can do.

Stay blessed and favored.
