Woman Member of Parliament representing Buikwe district, Judith Babirye says when she joined politics, many Christians went on their knee and started interceding on her behalf, casting out demons alleged to have persuaded her join Parliament.

She however notes that Jesus Christ encouraged her to push on and pursue her political dream.

“They were worried,” Babirye, who also doubles as a gospel music singer says. “They thought I would never worship again. But I know that he that called me, He that ordained me, He that begun a good work of worship will sustain me and bring it to accomplishment.”

The mother of one was speaking during her visit to Miracle Centre Cathedral – Rubaga on Tuesday night.

Instead of distancing themselves from politics, Judith Babirye pointed out that it is time for believers to forefront leadership roles in parliament.

“You may not understand what I’m talking about, but for so many years, the born-again, we have been so laid back and yet our father sent us on this planet as stewards of his resources. He sent us to come and rule, and have dominion over all his creation. But for centuries and centuries, the Ugandan born-again, we have been laid back.” Babirye said.

“It is ok for you to run as LC I because when a church is going to be closed, you will use your office to say; No. We need political power in the Church of Jesus,” She added. “It is time to take positions of leadership in the name of Jesus. It is ok for you to run for Member of Parliament if you are born again. It is ok for you to run as LC IV in your district if you are born again.” She added.

The MP said she started watching Pr Kayanja’s programs on TV from a tender age.

“I was a little girl but because I had given my life to Christ by P.3, they used to drag me to the program whenever it was aired. I would watch him, I didn’t understand, but the seed was growing in me.” She said.

“I was here in the most recent period, I wasn’t a member of Parliament. Today I stand here, on the same pulpit, Miracle Centre Cathedral, in the 77 days of revival, as a Member of Parliament, bold, fire spitting, speaking in tongues and anointed.” She said.

Pastor Robert Kayanja said Judith Babirye’s election to parliament came at a divine time.

“God told you to stand because revival had knocked the door in this country. And Parliament is one place where the whole country gathers – The August House.” He said.

Before she left the pulpit, Judith told the Pr Kayanja she is set to launch a 12-song album on Friday. She used the occasion to invite the pastor and his wife, together with the entire Church.

“Allow me Papa to say, on Friday, I have an event at Kampala Serena. Many people love you, many people cherish you and mama. I would really love to see you among the VIPs. Your words has transformed me. Your ministry has changed me. I would like to see you at the Serena Papa.” She stated.
