“This is a church that’s doing things in the community to make things better. So many people have requested this, not even people who go to World Changers.” said Georgia State Senator Donzella James who wants to name a portion of the Atlanta highway in honor of evangelist Creflo Dollar to WSB-TV reporters.
Dollar’s World Changers church is based in College Park, Georgia, one of the most dangerous suburbs of Atlanta, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
With the proposal at hand, Georgia residents and business owners believe that neither the megachurch pastor nor the highway in question deserve the honor. They want lawmakers to take their proposal and hit the road.
The resolution states that Reverend Creflo Dollar has demonstrated his commitment to teaching the Gospel, witnessing Christ through word and deed, and addressing the physical, psychological, intellectual, and spiritual needs of others and has been loved for his cutting-edge revelation and humorous, pragmatic approach, Reverend Dollar enables thousands to experience grace, restoration, and healing as a result of applying simple biblical principles to their lives
It is thus abundantly fitting and proper that this enduring example of God’s message be recognized by dedicating a road in his honor the proposal says.
This is not the first time that pastor Creflo Dollar has attracted media attention. His efforts to acquire a $65 million Gulfstream G650 jet through a crowdfunding campaign last year, which called for 200,000 people to donate $300, sparked controversy, as previously reported by The Christian Post.
Dollar eventually abandoned the campaign, but the board of directors for World Changers Church International said, in a statement posted on the website of Creflo Dollar Ministries, it intended to eventually purchase an aircraft.
