On 24th December 2011, Pastor Umar Mulinde of Gospel Life Church, Namasuba, a suburb about 6 Km south of Kampala, was attacked by Muslim extremists who poured acid on his face.

Mulinde attributed the attack to his conversion to Christianity from Islam and “progressive gospel preaching that has changed many.”

The preacher on Wednesday took to social media to send out an “urgent” message to fellow Pastors in the country. Mulinde said church leaders “must revive meaningful” prayers and serious Bible studies basing on the Bible truth.

“Church leaders, please let us give this matter the urgency it deserves and meaningfully take spiritual proved actions against the likes of the false Prophets of doom because they are posing danger to unsuspecting, desperate people and negatively impacting the Body of Christ in Africa,” he stated.

Pastor Mulinde said he has committed to serious bible study teaching at Gospel Life Church International, responding to the challenges posed by fake preachers, false prophets and “heinous evils committed against unsuspecting members by thugs masquerading as pastors.”

“We must revive meaningful prayers and serious Bible studies basing on the Bible truth. We should as well highlight that not all people are bound by demons. Other people are suffering because of inactivity or ignorance ( Hosea 4:6) and Jesus taught that there is freedom through understanding the truth ( John 8:32),” he said.

He added: “Therefore, dear Pastors, let us teach the true Gospel as Jesus told us ( Matthew 28:18-20) not those False prophets messages that are posing a great danger to the desperate. Some are now telling congregations to eat snakes; to eat grass; to quit school; to strip; to eat hair, others are spraying congregants’ troubles away: with Doom, spitting into their followers mouth – the list is endless.”

The preacher credited the proliferation and apparent success of false prophets to ignorance of “willing followers”.

“Any person with basic Bible study will just wonder how can people be so dumb and blind as to believe such nonsense? we’re truly living in those times that the scriptures referred to in Matthew 24: 24: “For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.”” he maintained.

Speaking to media following the acid attack, Mulinde stressed that despite the sufferings, she learnt from the Bible that God can take a disadvantage, and turn it into an advantage.

“Apostle Paul writes in Philippians that he was imprisoned for the furtherance of the gospel, and as a result, many of the brethren in the Lord were emboldened by Paul’s bonds to speak and preach the word without fear (Philippians 1:12-14).

“In a very like manner, I carry a very compelling and a very sobering message, with an aim to: motivate Christians to not be so timid in their faith; to preach boldly the Truth; and for Christians to stand up and be the light of the world regardless of the challenges brought by political correctness and humanism ideology,” Pr Mulinde said then.
