Lead Pastor at The City Church-Luzira and lecturer at Africa Renewal University, Alex Mutagubya was one of hundreds who last evening received a honorary doctorate degree from Multnomah University (MU) at a colorful event at Central Bible Church, 8815 NE Glisan Street, Portland, Oregon – USA.
Pr Mutagubya was joined by his wife, Faith and their girls for the celebration.
“It had been a long journey,” the Pastor said on social media.
Multnomah University is a non-denominational Christian university in Portland, Oregon, United States. The institution consists of a college, graduate school, seminary and Degree Completion Program, and the university offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees in a wide range of fields.
Over its history, Multnomah University has been the starting point of several independent ministries and businesses, including: International Renewal Ministries.
“We couldn’t be more excited to see you go out into the world and make an impact in your lives and work,” the University Management remarked on Friday.
One of the speakers at the event urged that much as to be happy in life, one must discover what they are passionate about and single-mindedly pursue it, “passion without knowledge is no good,” he said referring to Proverbs 19:2.
“The apostle Paul though Romans 10:2 said; “For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge.” Passion and prudence are necessary,” the graduands where told.
“Passion alone is not enough to over come lack of abilities or lack of discipline needed to develop. I’m always amazed at the beginning of American Idol when people who have absolutely no musical metabolite assume they can make American Idol. And then the judges speak into their lives and they begin to get mad and refuse to hear the truth. No amount of passion can over come the lack of ability,” the speaker added, noting the need for preparation.
