(Bengaluru-India) 25-year-old Ugandan girl Nakayiki Florence was allegedly stabbed to death by a man following an argument over money for ‘sexual favour’ on Wednesday night, the head of public diplomacy at the Foreign Affairs ministry, Margaret Awino Kafeero, has confirmed.
According to India Today, a 24-hour Indian-English language television network based in Noida, 30-year-old Ishan Sood met Florence in a pub, where he agreed to pay her Rs 5,000 (Shs 265,000) in exchange of a sex act.
Latter on, Florence demanded more money from Ishan at her residence, refusing to which she held him at knife-point.
After a heated argument, Ishan grabbed the knife from her and stabbed her 18 times to death, the deputy commissioner of police, Bengaluru North-East, PS Harsha told India Today. On hearing about the commotion, neighbours rushed to the spot.
India Today reports that a few people of African origin gathered at the spot shouting against the police with raised slogans; “we want justice”.
Some of them allegedly tried to attack the police, following which additional forces were called in.
The Daily Monitor reports that three Uganda High Commission staff from the Indian Capital New Delhi travelled to Bangalore, “visited the crime scene, met with Indian police officials and visited the mortuary where Ms Nakayiki’s body is kept.”
“A situation report and further updates from our staff will be shared as and when we receive it,” Ms Kafeero told the Newspaper on Sunday.
