Uganda Christian University has received a Shs 75 million scholarship to benefit students coming from underprivileged backgrounds and face challenges paying their fees in time.
The scholarship came from Stanbic Bank as part of its corporate social investment strategy which focuses on supporting education at all levels.
“We believe education is the key to Uganda’s development. It is why we have handed over scholarships worth UGX 75 million to Uganda Christian University,” the commercial Bank founded 1906 said is a statement.
Incoming freshmen must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 to qualify for the scholarship.
“This [scholarship] is to support the education of 20 under privileged students for the 2018-2019 academic year,”
“Some students have not met the half registration deadline due to fees issues and this is where we have come to support them. To qualify for the scholarship the students had to maintain a GPA average of 3.5 and above,”
“We partnered with UCU because we share their values and the firm belief that a better tomorrow for Uganda starts with investments made today,” Stanbic Bank Greater Kampala Regional Manager John Kaweesi said at the handover ceremony.
