Sinach, born Osinachi Kalu, is a Nigerian who hails from Ebonyi state. She is the second daughter in a family of seven and studied physics at the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers state.
Sinach was born on 30th March, 1977. She is a gospel music singer, songwriter, and senior worship leader at Believers’ Loveworld International.
She is known globally for several gospel hits songs which include, ‘Way Maker’, ‘I Know Who I Am’, ‘Great Are you Lord’, ‘Rejoice’, ‘He did it Again’, ‘Precious Jesus’, ‘The Name of Jesus’, ‘This Is my Season’, ‘Awesome God’, ‘For This’, ‘I stand Amazed’ , ‘Simply Devoted’, ‘Jesus is Alive’ and many more.

Amazing fact #1
According to Sinach, music was a dream, her father never supported. He told her she would go hungry as a musician, and would amount to nothing. It was when she met Pastor Chris that he changed her perspective. He told her she could be anything she want to be in life with God’s word.
She says she knew that gospel music is not for commercial purposes but to help promote the gospel of Christ and lift up the spirit of the hopeless. According to her, she has been born again for more than 20 years and she sang a song on being born-again in order to inspire people and tell them of its importance.

In 2016, Sinach was the first artist to be accorded the Songwriter of the Decade Award by the International Music and Arts Awards (LIMA), recognizing her outstanding and undeniable contribution to gospel music in the past decade, with her songs being sung in many countries, translated to many languages.
Same year, she received the African Achievers’ Award for Global Excellence, putting her in a prestigious list of Africans which include Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu, Joyce Banda, Richard Mofe-Damijo, and a few more. Also that same year, she was listed by YNaija alongside Chris Oyakhilome, Enoch Adeboye as one of the Top 100 Influential Christians in Nigeria.

Sinach has written over 200 songs. She is greatly motivated with the desire to see her songs, writings and concerts inspire the church and the whole world to worship God and be lifted, healed and for her listeners to be filled with the Glory of God through her music. Sinach believes in writing from her heart and knowing what the Spirit of God is saying to the Church.

She doesn’t work with gospel artists who sing in clubs. In 2017, Sinach castigated gospel artists for drinking wine and preaching water. While speaking at a special section with local gospel artists in Kenya, the Nigerian song stress called on her peers to “stay in the straight and narrow path.”
“The spirit in the club is different.” Sinach said. “First of all you must know that you are a servant,… you are a minister and your job is to support the pastor. That does not make you any less. Put on your servant-hood cloth and ask your pastor; what should I do to make your work easy?”
“Some artists want the best of both worlds and you cannot have it all. You do not put a toilet brush in the sitting room, it just doesn’t fit. I don’t work with artists who play in clubs, you have to stay in one place. Make your choice and stay where you belong.” She added

Sinach is married to a Christ Embassy Church pastor. It is a well-known fact that, Sinach is married to a pastor of her Christ Embassy Church, known as pastor Joe. His full name is Joseph Egbu.

Encounter with Christ. Sinach was born in a Christian family, however, she truly believed in God, after started worshiping at Christ Embassy Church. It is there, where she met her inspirational mentor, pastor Chris, that made her believe in her own talents. He also told Sinach, that she is able to become anything she wants, as long as God will be in her heart.
Sinach followed the wise advice, and now she is a living Nigerian gospel legend, that inspires us with her heavenly voice and heartfelt texts.
In one of her interview, Sinach described this period: “It was just a dream. As the years went by, my parents insisted that I train my mind. Then I met Jesus and he changed my purpose and changed my reason for singing. Challenges along the way built my character. Like a clay, I’ve been beaten, poured upon, torn apart, rolled over, put into the fire, and continuously moulded into shape in the process of making me”
