1) Their word holds more weight than the word of God in your life. You obey “its” voice when it speaks. When it calls, you answer even if God is telling you NOT to.
2) You defend it. It could be killing you mentally, emotionally or physically but you find a way to defend it against the people who God placed in your life to speak the truth. What you worship, you will defend… even if your defense makes no logical sense. Sin makes us delusional..
3) You’re willing to compromise your God given values just to hold onto it… Values that at one point, you NEVER could of imagined giving up. You start to become unrecognizable to even yourself, because you’ve sacrificed your very soul for this “thing”….
Ex 20:3-4 (NIV) “You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.”
Ask God for forgiveness and return back to your first love….
