John Tucker Mugabi Sentamu who is the 97th Archbishop of York, Metropolitan of the province of York and Primate of England attended Miracle Centre Cathedral – Rubaga’s revival meeting code named 77 Days of Glory on Wednesday night.
Archbishop Sentamu holds the second most senior clerical position in the Anglican Church of England after that of Archbishop of Canterbury, Primate of All England.
“Even when before he started preaching in schools, miracles were happening. When he got saved, salvation come into our house. Many things begun to break loose and miracles begun to happen for many people. You can have religious parents but, who are not born again…He brought into the family something that helped us, especially we who were younger.” Pr Kayanja said.
In his sermon, Archbishop Sentamu called for patience among believers.
“There are some Christians, when the Holy Spirit is brooding and wants to bring life, instead of sitting still, and waiting, they want to rush on. Incubation takes a long time.” He said, referring to Acts 2
The 68-year-old said the Holy Spirit wants to do something more glorious in the life of a believer.
“The brooding period is absolutely critical. The Holy Spirit was brooding over the face of the dead [earth] in Genesis and God said; let their be light…Day by day, that Holy Spirit is brooding over us..wanting the glory of the Lord to be seen.” The father of two biological, two foster children said.
He revealed that he gave his life to Christ at the age of 10, “but for a number of years didn’t know that everyday, I had to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Do you know why we have to be filled with the Holy Spirit everyday? Because we daily leak.”
Archbishop Sentamu is the sixth of thirteen children, including Pastor Robert Kayanja. He graduated in law from Makerere University, Kampala and was an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda. He practised Law both at the Bar and at the Bench before he left for the UK in 1974.
He was appointed Bishop for Stepney in 1996, Bishop for Birmingham in 2002 and Archbishop of York in 2005. He is Primate of England and Metropolitan, a member of the House of Lords and a Privy Councillor.
