A third-year student from Uganda Christian University Mukono was discovered dead after drowning in the pool at Big Fan Entertainment center in Mbarara town on Thursday morning.
The deceased, identified as Victor Mbuga, 24 years, studying International Business was found by the staff cleaner who informed the management which latter notified police.
Ongoing police survey reveals that the late Mbuga disappeared at around 5:30 pm on Wednesday. The family was informed about his death by police however, Ms Kyohairwe, sister to the deceased says that Mbuga knew how to swim and that it was baffling that he could have drowned.
Taban Chiriga, the Officer in Charge Criminal Investigations department Mbarara told media sources the body of the deceased was taken to Mbararta Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem as investigations continue. Two of the deceased’s friends have been apprehended for further investigations.
“Through post-mortem we shall be able to establish how he died,” Mr Chiriga said.
