Sustained by the faithfulness of God

Turning to God regardless of the situation should be our priority.

By Grace Nakalema.

To whom do you turn when you are feeling low? It could be your counselor, pastor, wife, husband or circle of friends.

It is true, when we turn to the above, we sometimes find the relief we are looking for. We assume they are capable of “putting our lives together.” Sadly, the last person we remember to turn to is God, the sustainer, provider, and giver of life.

Many have been disappointed on the account of trusting man instead of God. I am not sure if you want to go back to the same people that left you more broken than a shattered vase.

There is a faithful God who was and is and forever will be. He created you and me in His perfect image. With an understanding that God is our creator, it gives me more reason to believe that turning to Him in the very first place for help should be our priority.

The following scriptures can guide us into discovering God’s immediate power at work when we prioritize Him as our ever present help to heal, comfort and restore our lives.

“So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.”
Genesis 1:27 (NIV)

God created us first, not our friends, pastors, wives, husband’s and the likes of our close social circles of embrace. It was God Himself who created us, therefore let us find the confidence to seek Him whenever we are feeling low because He will not only meet us with comfort, but He alone can bring restoration to our brokenness.

“As you do not know the path of the wind,
or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb,
so you cannot understand the work of God,
the Maker of all things.”
Ecclesiastes 11:5(NIV)

God is the maker of all things and Him alone can fully forgive and heal us from our burdens. We ourselves don’t even know what tomorrow holds – what about our friends? Same thing! Yet, while we are less knowledgeable of life’s events, God is fully knowledgeable of our lives every single day.

“This is what the Lord says,
he who made you, who formed you in the womb,
and who will help you:
Do not be afraid, Jacob, my servant,
Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.”
Isaiah 44:2 (NIV)

The Lord knows each one of us by name, color, and everything about us is known to Him. How beautiful it is to come to this understanding that turning to God during our challenges should be a great privilege instead of remaining in self denial about His greatness.

Friend, when we turn to God through prayer, reading His word and through praise and worship, our troubles will be far gone. Our God is loving and His close social circle of embrace is enough to give us hope and restore our lives.

We don’t have to remain in fear and curse our lives. With God, all things are possible. He is right here, besides us, with us, and He is ready to hear from us anytime from anywhere we are.

God longs to have you seek Him with all your heart, mind, body and soul and He Loves you so much! Therefore don’t become a slave to fear!

God is waiting for you and me to turn to Him as our first priority whenever we are feeling low.
