Christian evangelist and President of Samaritan’s Purse, Franklin Graham has called for pray about the current political crisis in Sudan urging that God should give them a new leader who is not associated with the former regime.
The 66-year-old who is also son of the late Billy Graham took to his official Facebook page last Friday to comment on the developments.
“It is my prayer that God will give them a new leader who is not associated with this former regime and who will lead Sudan to peace, safety, and prosperity for the people.”
Graham spoke about twice meeting with newly deposed Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir. The first of the meetings involved asking Omar “to stop bombing our Samaritan’s Purse hospital in the south during the war, which he did.”
“Tens of thousands of people died under his reign. Pray for the people of this war-plagued nation—and the churches there,” wrote Graham.
Omar al-Bashir was removed by the military after months of anti-government protests against his three-decade rule.
