During the 20th anniversary of St Catherine SSS, Nabbingo – Wakiso district, students were out of love for their director, Peter Polly Mukiibi forced to block his “strange prayer” to God.
This June 23 celebration turned dramatic when Mr Mukiibi was invited to address the school gathering. He opted to give his speech in form of a prayer.
“Lord, I first thank you for the gift of life. I also thank you for the success of this school. When I consider our humble beginning and the enormous achievements we have attained, I glorify your name. In fact, if you wish, Just take me to heaven right now. Yes, you can take me because I have seen every good thing I desire.”
The students could not let Mr Mukiibi continue, New Vision remarks.
The odd moment for which the prayerful members in the audience stood still turned chaotic as some of the students started shouting; “no, this is not time for you to die. We still need you. You are a loving granddad.”
Later when he ended the prayer, Mr Mukiibi thanked the parents for their trust and support.
He reiterated the commitment of the management and staff of the school to offer quality education, with preferential option for the poor and academically disadvantaged students.
