Nothing in human experience can compare with the agony of knowing that the person to whom you pledged eternal devotion has changed her mind and is now seeking to end the-once-affectionate relationship.
It is unfortunate that death itself would for some be easier to tolerate than being tossed aside like an old shoe.
Alarmed by the state of relationships in the country today, award winning vocal powerhouse Solome Basuuta has used her new song titled ‘Nsuubira’ – a luganda word loosely translated to mean “I hope”- to point couples at aspiration, urging that it is possible to rebuild and preserve love amid storms of life.
In an interview with UG Christian News, the “I met a man” hit singer calls all lovers to relationships hinged on Hope, through Christ.
When and How did you come to the thought of writing this song?
Solome: Nsuubira is a song I wrote around July 2016 at that time I was hearing quite a number of stories of couples separating and specifically a close friend of mine. I saw the pain, anger, turmoil, heartache and truthfully, I too had questions of why? what happened? However in all that I saw my friend [hopeful] and still have hope today.
For a couple in crisis, How can one withdraw from a ‘far’ place when it seems much easier to give up?
Solome: (sighs) Well, What I am learning is to surrender and allow God to deal with whatever is happening, and not try to force being hopeful. In short go through the emotions and allow God carry you through it all. I have also learnt He restores perfectly more than we can ever try.
What sustains hope amidst an environment of hopelessness ?
Solome: The bible says “Hope does not disappoint because the love of God has been poured abroad in our hearts”
In my view, God is the one who keeps us hoping and that hope is in that God loves me, He’s concerned about everything in my life, and whether the environment changes or not we can always stand on his love even through the tears and pain.
Amen. Lastly, tell us something brief about Solome 2017 ?
Solome: There is a lot in store.
