Encouraging others in the Lord has become a major part of Michael “Ross” Kakooza‘s life.
The 39-year-old RnB, Pop and Afrobeat singer recently re-dedicated his life to Christ, and got baptised.
He explained during a live broadcast via Facebook on 25 May that he had endured a great deal of challenges, that “really made me think twice about my life,” he said.
“I thought about my life and where I want to go – spiritually. I’ve been saved for a while, but just haven’t been serious with the Lord. This time around, when all these things happened to me, it had me thinking twice about life,” he went on. “I said you know what, I have to get myself together. I have to get my relationship with God straight. That is when I decided to re-dedicate my life to the Lord.”
Thanking all those who had supported him throughout the process, Michael urged that one of his major priorities today is getting to “know the Lord better.”
“Being Saved is one thing, and having a relationship with God is another thing. So, I was Saved, but did not have a relationship with God. I am going to make sure I build my relationship with God, and to be honest, its beautiful. It is an awesome experience. I believe everybody should have this kind of experience. I believe everybody should have a relationship with the Lord, so that you can see the plans He has for you,” he stated.
Michael shared with his online audience how knowing Christ more than anything else this world could offer, is great and satisfying, not only in this life but even beyond. He cited Jeremiah 29:11 which says, “I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for.”
“Knowing God, there is nothing He cannot do for you. I have seen God move in my life, in ways I had never imagined. It is beyond me. His ways are just beyond us, If you just surrender to Him,” he said, urging however that the decision does come with its own challenges.
“The fact that you have given your life to the Lord, the devil is watching. All eyes are on you. Challenges will come your way, but greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world,” he said.
Often times when mainstream musicians surrender their lives to Christ, their fans are quick to question their motives and way forward. Is Michael embracing gospel ministry?
We’ve Been Commissioned
“I think for everyone, once you get Saved, and start having a relationship with God, It’s upon [you] to spread the gospel. You don’t have to be a pastor,” he said. “When someone does something good for you, and you have had a good experience with that person, it is upon you to spread the good news about that person with others. That is how it is with God as well. When you have a good experience with God, it is upon you to spread the Word to everybody else.”
Michael urged that getting to know Christ more “has been an awesome experience” and that he is still growing. He told his audience to commit to Christ, and put their trust in Him.
“I am in a good place with God. It is a journey. It is not something that happens instantly, it is gradual,” he said. “If you haven’t given your life to the Lord, do it. It is a beautiful experience. The Lord cannot let you down. Whatever you want, God will provide. You just have to let Him take control. You just have to let Him have His way.”
The singer urged his audience that beneath the surface of life, there is an ongoing battle between good and evil. “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12.
“The kingdom of God is trying to get as many people as it can, and so is satan’s Kingdom. Jesus is coming back real soon,” he said.
