In past years, many would celebrate the New Year by flocking entertainment joints, burning car tyres or tossing furniture, appliances from the balconies of high-rise apartment buildings.

This was not the case on 31st December, 2019 as it appears the dangerous tradition has declined.

Church attendance soared across various locations as residents took their families and friends for prayers ahead of the new year.

Churches aside, grounds like Nambole Stadium, Kololo Airstrip, Wankulukuku stadium and Old Kampala SS play grounds led multitudes in prayer, praise and thanksgiving ahead of the new year.

In Ntinda, a suburb of Kampala, Churches like the Praise Cathedral located in Kigowa had to bring in extra chairs to accommodate residents that made it to the venue towards midnight.

The Church lead Pastor, Godfrey Kamese described 2020 as a year of ‘Open Heaven,’ and ‘perfect vision,’ adding that believers should be thankful in all circumstances.

The Watoto Church auditorium in Kampala was equally filled to the brim and beyond, which promoted the administration to utilize the outer parking space, as they have always done every 31st of December.

At KCCA grounds – Lugogo, Ugandans from all walks of life gathered for Phaneero’s ‘Night of Prayer.’

Pastor Modestar Sweeney told attendants: “Look at where God is taking you in 2020 and start to thank Him.”

Another preacher at the grounds, Pastor Zac Mutyaba said: ” We serve a faithful, able, limitless and wonderful God.”

“With the word of of God, we have a sure word of prophecy. Take a hold of the word shared tonight and allow it to become a light unto your soul,” he added.

The gospel ministers noted that there is a celebratory expression of victory that comes with dwelling in the presence of God.

“His gifting and uniqueness upon your life is meant to be for the household of God.” Apostle Charles Tumwine continued. “You are a man who has hustled and went through what you have gone through, and have not caused trouble, we have been following you. You have trusted your God.

“This could be a turning point and turn around for your life. You have been coming and attending meetings, but tonight, we see grace upon your life. Your life is in the hands of God. The nations are at your disposal, this grace is for the household of God. Of-course the secular [industry] has the resources, they have the money. The Church looks like it does not have the resources, but seed as been planted in your life. Tonight you have had an encounter,” Apostle Charles Tumwine told Lutalo.
