Award winning gospel musician, Sandra Suubi has been accorded a Masters in Fine Art during the 68th graduation ceremony of Makerere University on Friday.
Sandra, most popular for her hit single, ‘Nsiimye’ took her testimony and excitement to social media, thanking God and encouraging her audience with her accomplishment.
“Lord! Where would I be if not for Your grace! I am excited, humbled and grateful for the next step in my life. If it was not for God, my family and friends I would not have made it here,” she said.
“We can all achieve our dreams. Don’t give up, push until it becomes a reality,” she added
The renown vocal powerhouse rose to fame after winning the Airtel Trace Music Star Uganda competition in 2015. She serves with Watoto Church and was in 2016 announced overall Upcoming Female Artist by the VIGA music awards.
Meanwhile, Friday has also seen President Yoweri Museveni congratulate Winnie Madikizela Mandela upon receiving an honorary doctorate of laws from Makerere University.
The University decided to recognize her for “bravely” withstanding “constant harassment by the apartheid police” and for challenging “their brutality at every turn”.
“The political activitst and former head of the Women’s League of South Africa’s ruling party, African National Congress (ANC), became a symbol of the anti-apartheid struggle and of the bravery and determination of the oppressed to gain their freedom against all odds.” Makerere University said.
In his message delivered by public service minister Wilson Muruli Mukasa, the President said the Mandela family “gave their all for Africa”.
