Dr. Morris Cerullo, a world-renowned Christian evangelist and the president of Morris Cerullo World Evangelism, as passed on aged 88.
His death was confirmed in an update on his official ministry Facebook page on 11 July, 2020.
Dr. Morris Cerullo’s ministry team had earlier this week made a call to prayer, saying that the televangelist and author of over 80 books was being treated for Pneumonia at a hospital in San Diego.
“Please also pray for Theresa who has been working around the clock to assist in his care. She needs your prayers too for extra strength at this time,” they said in a release.
Born in 1931, Dr. Morris Cerullo was raised in a Jewish Orthodox orphanage in New Jersey until the age of 14 when he gave his life to Christ.
By 15 years old he was preaching three to four times per week in local churches.
Reports show that at 17 years old, Morris Cerullo received a scholarship and graduated from the the New York Metropolitan Bible School in Suffern, New York.
He also holds two honorary doctorates from Florida Beacon College and Oral Roberts University.
After eight years of ministry, he went on his first overseas missions trip to Greece, and his international ministry was born.
Dr. Morris Cerullo has been traveling to various nations of the world for over seven decades, ministering to millions.
I love Uganda – Cerullo
Dr Cerullo’s first visited Uganda in 1993, and left the then queen of Buganda saved.
He also established stronger ties with the country.
He returned in 2007 and spoke at the Miracle Centre Cathedral. In 2017, Dr Cerullo spoke to a 5000 strong pastoral delegate during a miracle crusade in Kampala overseen by Pastor Jackson Sseyonga.
He revealed during the gathering that he is good friends with President Yoweri Museveni and the First Lady Janet Museveni.
“I met the president of this country, we became friends and the First Lady was in our school of ministry; I would visit her 3 times a year and we would pray together for Uganda,” Cerullo said then.
“I arrived today but despite his busy schedule, he came and met me at the airport and he provided his personal car to drive me here. I love Uganda, God loves Uganda, and Uganda belongs to Jesus.”
It was in 2018 that he announced his final international crusades. In his book, an autobiography called ‘The Legend of Morris Cerullo: How God Used an Orphan to Change the World,’ Cerullo gets even more personal about his ministry journey.
