Executive Director at Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Mrs. Dorothy Kisaka has encouraged Christians to live exemplary lives, noting that the abuse of one’s mandate in an institution is a deviation from true Christian leadership.

Speaking recently during a Leadership Forum organised by LIFE Ministry Uganda, Mrs. Dorothy Kisaka urged the audience that “it is God who appointed you in that position of authority that you occupy” today.

“When a leader doesn’t not take up their role, the institution stagnates, the performance is poor. Mandate is not man-given, but comes from God. There is no promotion that comes from man. The Bible teaches us that all promotion comes from God,” she said.

Mrs. Dorothy Kisaka urged that her primary role in her positional authority as KCCA Executive Director, is to “bear the image of God.”

“Our leadership roles may be embedded in a constitution, document or appointment letter somewhere, but ultimately, it connects to the Almighty God. It connects to the Bible in Genesis 1:26-28,” She said.

“You are in your position as a Member of Parliament, Minister, Police officer or Judge, to bear the image of God,” she continued. “When you bear the image of God, you rule, you are fruitful, you increase, you bring order in the chaotic world that we live in, that is your mandate.”

“There are things in the Word of God that clearly show us that when you abuse a mandate you fall into insubordination,” she said.

The Leadership Forum, which was also used as a platform to launch The Family Focus, was graced by First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports Mrs Janet Museveni at Freedom Square Makerere University in Kampala.

In explaining how one’s mandate is bigger than what many Christians today have embraced, Mrs Dorothy recalled words by a preacher who once challenged her: “How can a city with so many saved [born-again Christians] people, co-exist with so much chaos. You have not embraced your mandate as Christians. Your mandate is not just about saving souls, it is creating order out of chaos.”

Mrs Dorothy Kisaka used her speech to also highlight the Holy Spirit’s role in making leaders fly to significancy. “God has given us the main resource of the Holy Spirit to enable us go through any situation as leaders,” she said.

On Marriage

“I have been married for 32 years, and at the beginning of our marriage, we did not understand the mandate given for a married couple,” she said. “We could not understand each other. The communication was poor. It was the cause of many of our disagreements.”

“The marriage mandate is very clear, the wife is a helper, a companion. The husband is the head. He provides leadership direction. We can see that in the story of Adan and Eve, when the roles were a little changed, trouble came into their house,” she said. “When we try to dominate each other and use force on each other, we abuse the mandate and beauty of marriage and therefore the beauty of the leadership roles that God gives to each one of us as husband and wife.”
