Blasious Rogers Tasobya who preaches the gospel together with believers at Zion Christian Church in Mukono has petitioned the Inspector general of police, General Kale Kayihura to protect him from unlawful arrests by authorities at Mukono Police station.

Tasobya has told media sources that he has been victim of over three (3) unexplained arrests at the hands of Mukono Police officers.

He says, as reported by one local news daily that the most recent arrest was carried out last week ending, whereby he was detailed at Mukono Police station cells and later transferred to Nagalama Police station beyond the mandatory 48 hours without being produces to court for proper prosecution.

“On 15th, I sent (a one) Rogers to Mukono to pick money for transport to Kyankwanzi but when he came out of the bank he found police officers and a patrol car who arrested him and detained him at Mukono Police. He called me and on arrival they asked if i was Rogers Tasobya and I said yes. The OC said it was me they wanted and threw me in Jail.” Tasobya is quoted to have said.

Following this arrest, it is reported that the police officers went and searched his house where they confiscated house hold items like cutlery which included knives, as well as farm tools like a panga and hammer, among others which were produces at police.

It was after his relatives went to the State prosecutor’s office in Mukono that he was released on bond at around 8pm. He was however ordered to reports back to the police station at 8am in the morning.

The preacher told sources this is the third time he is being wrongly arrested and detained under false accusations of robbery (under police file CRB/806/17) which when taken to court, the case was dismissed.

Blasious says IGP Kale Kayihura should intervene in his case.
