President Yoweri Museveni on Thursday attended a Miracle Crusade and Conference in Kyenjojo district hosted by Pastor Imelda Namutebi Kula, the Founder of Liberty Worship Center International Ministries, Lugala.
Pastor Namutebi described Museveni as a God-fearing leader who “has supported the movement of the gospel in Uganda.”
Under Museveni’s regime, Pastor Namutebi said the born-again Church in Uganda has experienced tremendous freedom of worship.
“As our Motto states, ‘For God and My country,’ we have traversed the entire nation, and are still doing so. During all our missions, we have experienced peace, protection and freedom,” she said.
“President Museveni believes in God, and does not accept evil. Thank you for allowing us to go out and spread the gospel,” she continued.
“The President listens to everybody,” she said.
Pastor Imelda Namutebi started the crusade on 24th November, 2019, spreading the gospel among local residents.
“We were to leave earlier, but I was convicted by God to stay a week longer so that we share the gospel further,” Namutebi told the President.
In attendance was the Kyenjojo District woman representative Hon Esperanza Baguma, and other leaders. Hon Baguma thanked the president for visiting the region, and said residents have several pending issues that need his attention.
She acknowledged that it was not the right place or time for her to delve more into the issues affecting her constituency, thus asked the President to consider meeting them again.
In his speech, President Museveni spoke out against corruption, calling those engaged in the vice “parasites”.
He said corruption is sin, adding that perpetrators need to be punished. President Museveni quoted Galatians 6:7 saying, ‘what a man sows, he shall reap.’
“They are parasites, they have no fear of God, and are lazy,” Museveni said, referring to corrupt individuals.
He spoke to local residents about the “Parable of the Talents”, recorded in Matthew 25:14–30.
He urged them to use what God has given them to fight poverty in their homes. Museveni said Ugandans should engage in income generating activities by putting their land to commercial use.
