PDP’s presidential candidate 2016, Pr Dr. Abed Bwanika

Born August 1, 1967, former presidential candidate and founding pastor of Christian Witness Church – Ntinda, Abed Bwanika turns 50 today.

Bwanika [President of the People’s Development Party], who together with seven others lost the elections to incumbent president Yoweri Museveni in 2016, left the country for Kenya, two days after the announcement of the presidential poll results.

Bwanika was one of two evangelicals that believed would transform Uganda, the other being Joseph Mabirizi of  Ambasaddors of Jesus Christ Ministries – Namungona.

His departure attracted media attention however, he issued a statement urging he had left to transact private business and also take a rest. Bwanika is married to Dr. Gladys Namusuwe and they have three sons, Wise, Chosen and Delight. They have been married for 15 years.

He’s first shot at the presidential seat was at the February 2006 presidential election where he finished in fourth place. Mr Bwanika was far the youngest contestant in that presidential race. His dream of becoming President never died since then. He has come up and contested during all the proceeding national polls.
