Popular Christian radio station Power 104.1 Fm has officially announced to its ardent fans that the annual celebration PhatFest will happen this year.

The station says that the grand return of PhatFest will be kicked off this Thursday with special discounts on ordinary tickets.

“Movie Night was moved from Friday to Thursday. We are using the same day to launch PhatFest. VIP tickets go for 50k, ordinary 20k and children 10k. Discounts will be on ordinary tickets only.” The station said Tuesday.

The Managing Director Peter Kakuru explained last year that the radio station, as an organisation, was going through a rebrand and restructuring aimed at making them more relevant to serve their audience better.

He also appreciated their fans for the overwhelming support of the event since it’s inception in 2009.

Ikiriza Enock, the stations Creative Director by that time also told UG Christian News, “The reason we are not having the event this year is because we want to add more value to it and present something that is much better. All our efforts are aimed at revamping and re-imagining it to take it to the next level. We will be having the event in 2016.  What everyone should know is that we are planning for success.”

PhatFest was started in 2009 as a concert to celebrate 10 years of Power FM.  It had over time attracted Christians and non Christians alike, from all walks of life.

Recent figures from Watoto Church indicated that this festival has attracted a modest crowd of 2,500 to nearly 10,000 people including artistes from Zambia, Kenya, South Africa, Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica, U.S.A, UK and South Sudan.
