Makerere University professor, Dr. Stella Nyanzi, has of late become a popular social media brand due to the eccentric Facebook posts.
She is famous for her deep love for the opposition and constant attacks at the current regime, all of which she does using her social media platforms.
Earlier this week, she laughed off rumors circulating various online news sites that she has been sacked from the university.
Rumors said it that she had been fired and given orders to vacate office by her boss at the Institute of Social Research, Professor Mamdhani, on 4th April; with April 15th as the deadline.
This morning, she stormed social media with a warning to the ‘Goliath’ in her path.
“If Mamdani’s sword strikes at my heart and draws my blood, I will die with honour as the warrior my mother raised. If I die in this battle, I die!” she wrote.
The context she extracted has been reference and a lesson about facing giant problems or impossible situations by seeing them from God’s point of view.
The phrase “David and Goliath” has taken on a more secular meaning, denoting an underdog situation, a contest where a smaller, weaker opponent faces a much bigger, stronger adversary.
“If David had listened to the discouragement thrown at him about how big, strong, mighty and skillful Goliath was, the bible would be different. I am possessed with the spirit of David. I am running with my sling and two stones to fight ugly Goliath who is huffing and puffing nasty intimidations at my kingdom,” she stated.
She said that once her stone hits Goliath’s head so hard that his skull shatters and his brains pour out in bloody clots, she will dance like David danced: until all my clothes fall to the ground.
“I may stink crudely of the shepherd-boy that I am, but that is fine! I may stumble and falter in my advance. It is not perfume that fights an enemy. It is not elegant cat-walking that stops bullies. Laughter and mockery do not deter me, because I am David and that big uncircumcised Philistine crossed the line. My butida has shot stones that killed lions!”
It should also be noted that courtesy of a letter from the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Stella Nyanzi is successfully holding on to her office.
