Two of Africa’s established gospel legends Pompi and Mag44 are set to deliver a joint album, Uganda Christian News has learnt.
The multiple award winning gospel music ministers based in Zambia took to social media on Monday to announce plans of the new project, although the actual release date and album title have not yet been disclosed.
The rap collectives have worked together before on two songs titled ‘Do it’ and ‘Nyimbo.’
Pompi and Mag44 are well known to urban youth in Uganda for biblically rich lyrical content, killer beats, creative direction and knockout punchlines.
“I sense its going to be fire,” one social media user reacted to news of the highly anticipated project.
Mag44 is an esteemed producer and rapper who has been in Uganda on a number of occasions sharing the message of Christ. He started off as a secular artist but later decided to divert his focus on gospel. Some of his songs are ‘More To You’, ‘Dance Before You Sit’, ‘Apologise’, ‘Bulandi New’, ‘One Hit Wonder’, ‘Go’ and ‘Lusaka’.
Pompi, on the other hand, has released songs like; ‘No Wele’, ‘Kapena’, ‘Silence’, ‘People Just Like Us’, ‘Simpulified’, ‘Peace Be Still’ and more.
He is an entrepreneur, and CEO of Atmosphere Nation and Lota House.
His major objectives are to make music that inspires and to highlight the beauty of our African culture which he believes is being lost due to the westernised perception of the world that is always shown by the media.
He believes Africans should have an identity with features unique to them such as the type of music, fashion e.t.c.
In May 2016 Mag44 and Pompi were nominated at the Groove Awards in Kenya.
