There past years have been something else… it’s opened their eyes to many things and many people. It’s had its ups and downs and ins and outs. They’ve all been able to take something from that, leaning on God to overcome every struggle, addiction and temptation.

Not that they are fully recovered, they are simply conscious of the power their testimony can bring to their lives, and that of the listeners over time.

Power 104.1 FM, a renowned urban youthful english contemporary Christian radio station has on Wednesday confirmed the lineup of musicians that will be gracing its annual celebration Phatfest.

Re-introduced as a Phat-Festival, the gathering is due to take place on Saturday 10th December 2016 at Makerere University Sports Ground from 1:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

So as to meet its target of pointing the listeners to character change, new godly culture, ways and practices , the station says that it will drive this all-day festival under the theme “VERSION 2.0”, drawn from 2 Cor 5:16.

“This Festival is aimed at encouraging our listeners and audience towards positive change in their personal lives and community. Our desire this year is to give the Love family more fun, more engaging activities; that’s why we are starting earlier.” Power FM managing Director Mr Peter Kakuru said today during a press conference.

Mr Kakuru emphasized that what they are doing as a station is to provide a platform, then let the Holy Spirit do the transformation. “It is not our duty convert them.” He said.

“Our desire is that through our artists – because you know people think that christian life is boring and that it has nothing to offer – but when they see these artists share their story , one can understand that they can leave what they are doing. That actually who I am and what I am doing can be better. ” Mr Kakuru added.

As the long list of artists gracing the event spoke one by one, they certified that they have gracefully overcome past obstacles that include drug trafficking, abuse and addiction by the power of God, and have set in motion opportunities that can change the individual lives of others.

The artists present included Sobre from Zambia, Majik Mike and Kris Erroh from Kenya, and a host of top Ugandan top gospel musicians.

At a tender age, Sobre went for rehabilitation 6 months, due to marijuana addiction in 2010. This was after an arrest for drug trafficking.

“My mother passed on when I was 4 years old, our Dad remarried, and we were mistreated. I found love from the streets.” He told the press.

Majik Mike spoke of his growth from the Soweto slums in Kenya, while Zabuli spoke of her struggle with drugs and abuse as a child.

The station confirmed that Makerere sports grounds will be open to the event regardless of Makerere University closure, and that security of persons and their property has been guaranteed.

Tickets go for: VIP-50k, Ordinary 20k, Children (12 years and below will pay 10k.)
