This week beginning, Pr Bugingo was meant to have commenced a teaching on the difference between “Holy Ghost” and “Holy Spirit”. He says this program was however put on hold for him to hear more from God concerning this matter that has induced argument among Christians in the country.
“Honestly, are brethren going to kill us over this matter because they can’t give up the money they get when they sell “Holy Ghost” bibles, or is this a godly battle that He [God] will save us from.” Bugingo, the founding pastor of House of Prayer ministries said on Tuesday during a radio talk show on 107.0 Salt FM.
“Those that connived with UCC to withdraw our license, to ban Bugingo so that he broadcasts no more, your complaint is not yet at their desk, but I am fully aware of your plans,” He said. “When I requested for a licence from UCC, it was for the gospel – the gospel of Christ – I’m a law abiding citizen. If there was a constitutional law I have gone against, I don’t know how they would have gone past that.”
Pastor Bugingo was heavily criticized on Monday when he said that certain versions of the Bible have been “tampered with” and that the word ‘Holy Ghost’ and ‘Holy Spirit’ do not mean the same thing.
It is on this note that he allegedly ordered his congregation to burn such bibles at his church located at Makerere, Kikoni.
Despite criticism, the Pastor still empathizes that ‘Holy Ghost’ and ‘Holy Spirit’ are different. He says that he needs no academic credentials to really comprehend this.
“I don’t think it really requires one to go to school to differentiate “Ghost” and “Spirit”. Since I got to know about these attacks from Sunday – I have not heard any word from traditional doctors and “Banaddini” – but the born-again have raised up against me – turned all services on explaining that “Holy Ghost” is a spirit of God.” He stated during the talk show.
“Those that society has highly respected, this is where you are going to know who they really are. They are sending their academic credentials on social platforms telling everyone about how they are learnt. For someone to comprehend and differentiate “Ghost” and “Spirit”, should we put our academic credentials before their’s, so that the country can judge who is right to be listened to?” He wondered.
“Before you bring out your academic credentials – literally – know this, a “Ghost” is a negative spirit. The word “Ghost” its self is negative. If you say Bugingo did’t study, allow everyone to call you “Ghost” everywhere you are. Print and put on a T-shirt with words “I’m a Ghost”. We are not against any personality, we are preaching the gospel truth.” He added.
Bugingo says what his ministry is doing is to create awareness, warn believers without any element of fear.
“Some people called us concerning those bibles that were burnt – because no one saw me burn any – I however, don’t deny telling people that if you can’t wait to be burn because of those bible, they should burn them.” He said. “The true ones are available. I recommend King James, because it was the first version translated into different languages understood by several people. It does not contain these ‘ghosts’.”
