Bishop Patrick Makumbi of International Gospel Healing Centre in Lweza- Kajjansi along Entebbe road has said Uganda would not be where it is today without the Balokole, a Luganda word meaning “saved people.”
The preacher was on Thursday speaking to NTV Uganda in regard to their recent investigations into Pastors, where he boldly stated that their allegations against him are trash.
The “NTV Investigates” report aired Monday showcased among many Peace Nnaalongo Nanangwe, the mother of a 16 year old who told Kajjansi Police officials that the Bishop defiled her.
As a result, Police kicked off the investigations into the matter and a case file vide of reference SD: SD: 13/18/06/2016, was opened up against the suspect (Bishop Makumbi).
“The case is in court. And I want to tell all the viewers, if it comes out and I’m convicted, I will be glad to walk into Luzira prison. I was raised up in a very good family. I am disciplined. I know what I can do. There is a group of people out there that feel Makumbi is not worthy to be what he is. Jealousy, and I don’t know where Uganda is heading today.” He told Patrick Kamara, host of ‘On The Spot.’
“To me, If I’m better than you, don’t attack me or destroy me. Learn from me if I have a good foundation.” He added. “How can someone tell you, I defiled a girl, one I have never seen in my entire life… And you know, they are not wrestling with me, but the government. That file has gone everywhere, my hand is not into it.”
Bishop Makumbi said the investigations NTV aired Monday were not right.
“Why I actually came, they played in the news on Monday, they said Makumbi defiled a young girl of 16. That she came to my house…The investigations were trash….Do you know how it affected my family. My wife believes in me as her hero.” He said.
“The news went out in January, at the start of the year. They pushed the case out of court. In life, what we need are builders, not breakers. 26 years I have been in church, I have never committed any crime, and I will never be a criminal. I will serve the lord all the days of my life. My age might not suit my title but I’m a Bishop, trained. I know what it means to be one.” He said.
Can someone work in the name of God, but not for God and they are performing miracles, but are not from the most high? Patrick Kamara asked Bishop Patrick Makumbi.
The Bishop said miracles are real and they happen, but there are those that also perform them not in the name of the Lord
“Jesus who is the head of the Church performed miracles and their is nothing wrong. But what is the motive, are you called? You are a journalist Kamara. I respect you. You do a great job here. But one of the things we need to understand is that when someone comes and does the same Job you are doing when he is not trained, he will along the way fall off. There are people we see and say; let us give them time, and watch them. We have been around, we have seen people come and they disappear. There are those that perform miracles, but not in the name of God. We do not know how they perform them.” He stated.
His Story
Never talk about a man’s glory if you don’t know his story. I started out in an Anglican church as a young man, loved God with all my heart. I was so humble and I tell you, I went through every teaching. I received Jesus as my lord and savior in s.1 . All these years, i have been teaching, I have been trained in ‘Marriator’* Georgian. I began as a pastor, small church on a papyrus mat. We called it operation “Biwempe”. That is the transformation Apostle Charles has been talking about. Your not knowing me does not mean I have no value.
His advise
The primary issue that will give faith to people is the word of God, that is why we need training for many preachers. Religion teaches us to obey the commandments, but not build a relationship with God, yet it is very important. That is why we have people who cannot pray without a preacher. They keep running looking for miracles. It is not about the miracles – when you read the word of God and it dwells in you richly, you realize that even miracles begin to happen. Miracles do happen. Balokole in Uganda have done a great job.
Statement to critics
Some one started, attacked Pr Robert Kayanja, I respect him, he is our father. I respect Joseph Sserwada, those are senior men, but you see someone attacking them, abusing them and I don’t know whether this is a religious spirit attacking Pentecostalism. Jesus said, I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it, I have seen people attacking, but today, we do not see them.
