A 13-year-old girl is now safe after being kidnapped and locked up by a witch doctor in Uganda. She had been held captive for a week and raped daily, Uganda Christian News has learnt.
Droplets in a Stream, a nonprofit charity organization based in Kenya and Uganda announced in a statement on Wednesday that the yet-to-be identified victim was rushed to hospital for in-depth medical examination, and then to St Paul’s Rehabilitation Centre for further treatment.
The rescue mission was done by police in collaboration with the Executive director of Kyampisi Childcare Ministries, Pastor Peter Sewakiryanga.
“Pastor Peter and his Kyampisi Childcare Ministries team then managed to track down the witch doctor, leading to his arrest,” the charity organisation said.
As this website reported earlier, Mr Sewakiryanga established Kyampisi Childcare Ministries , with an aim of ending child sacrifice in Uganda, providing support to victims of the brutal practice and ensuring that security officials prosecute the perpetrators.
The charity is based in Kyampisi, the small village where Mr Sewakiryanga first witnessed child sacrifice.
“The work we mainly do is rescue the kids that are almost in the hands of those that will probably hurt them,” he says.
“For those that have been killed, we will work with the police to find the witch doctors and make sure that they are taken to court for justice.”
Mr Sewakiryanga says his organisation deals with between 20 and 30 confirmed cases of child sacrifice each year, on average.
