Pastor Gary Skinner has listed a number of scriptures that contain prophecies about the second coming of Jesus Christ.
Gary, who is the visionary and passionate team leader of Watoto Church, explained that every individual needs to be fully aware of the fact that Jesus is coming back and could return at any moment.
He said that God is not caught off guard by the events that transpire in our world today, adding that in spite of the technological and educational advances, many people are living in despair and hopelessness.
“Jesus is the hope of this world, and He is coming back,” Pastor Gary said. “It is He that will solve the crises of this world.” “In the middle of whatever discouragement or difficulties you might be facing, there is good news. The trouble won’t last forever. Jesus is coming back.”
The preacher urged that the coming of Jesus Christ is the second most mentioned subject in the Bible. He explained that this is because, “God does not leave us in the dark, wondering about what will happen in the future. He announces it in the Bible to prepare us.”
A recent study by LifeWay, mentioned that nearly nine out of 10 pastors see at least some current events matching those Jesus said would occur shortly before He returns to Earth.
“We’re living in a world of increasing rebellion against God. The dream of modern man is to build a utopia by himself on the earth. And you would think with the increase of technology, it would be possible. But, in the process of building a better world, we have turned from God – the God of heaven – to the false gods of this world, the god of science. We put our faith in technology and our politicians to solve our problems,” Pastor Gary Skinner said, in his sermon.
“The world is becoming ungovernable. War, political turmoil, famine, disease and corruption are rampant. Lawlessness, tribalism, ethnic cleansing are the order of the day. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. Pleasure seekers try to drown out the pain of life. Sexual perversion, fuelled by godlessness, pornography and so called gender confusion, leave people more lonely than ever. There’s an unrestrained immorality with little or no thought of God’s ways and God’s law. Materialism has so infected us that we will try to get money and material things at any cost. Debt is crippling families and nations. The family is breaking down, leaving a generation of young people and children who hate their parents,” he said.
Pastor Gary cautioned that God will not “allow the madness and rebellion of this world against Him and against His son to go on forever.”
Those who have loved the Lord will spend eternity with Jesus, he said.
The preacher went on saying that there is need for people to come back to God, and receive His son, Jesus Christ, and also embrace the Holy Spirit.
“When is He (Jesus) coming back? The disciples asked the same question. He told them to be filled with the Holy Spirit, and to occupy until He came. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving their children to be married right up to the day Noah entered the ark. And they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away (Matthew 24:38).”
“Peter wrote about the scoffers, we read about them today. And he warns the church that the day of the Lord will come like a thief. That’s why we need to be ready at any moment. Suddenly, when we least expect him like the 10 virgins, that Jesus spoke of five were ready and watching and waiting, but five, were left behind because they were not ready.”
“Therefore keep watch because you do not know on what day your Lord will come (Matthew 24:42). If Jesus was to come back today, would you go or would you stay? Would you be released from the wrath that is going to be unleashed on this world? Do you know what you need to do? Receive Jesus, as your Lord, as your Saviour and as your master. He’ll forgive you all your sins, and write your name in the Lamb’s book of life.,” he said.
