The director of global Faith-Based Partnerships at Facebook says a growing number of Churches are utilizing the platform to keep spreading the good news since majority opted to close their doors in the face of the risks posed by the cornonavirus outbreak.
Ms Nona Jones who is also a Pastor revealed during an interview with CBN News that the coronavirus crisis can be used as an opportunity for the church to use technology to its advantage.
“There’s been a pretty significant surge in the number of not only live-streams but also people viewing worship online and I think one of the things that’s really important is for everyone to know Facebook is here,” said Jones.
In Uganda, the incumbent President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni issued a directive on 18 March that requires all Churches to close effective immediately for 32 days.
As an alternative, most ministries announced intentions to stream their weekday and Sunday services, most especially on Facebook, with chat and one-on-one prayer features.

It can happen wherever you are.”
Lead Pastor of Entebbe Miracle Centre Church, Aaron Mutebi is taking his ministry to Facebook urging his more than 4,000 followers to stand in faith and prayer.
“In such a moment like this, God is expecting us to humble ourselves and seek Him in prayer, fasting and repentance. Ladies and gentlemen, at this point when God’s eyes and ears are open unto His house to attend unto each prayer made by believers, let the government, the world health organization do their job, but let the Christians also do their job of praying and God will hear from heaven and will forgive our sins and heal our land. Child of God do not cease prayers,” he said.
Uganda has no confirmed cases of Coronavirus as of 21st March, 2020.
