President Donald J. Trump announced the launch of Evangelicals for Trump, a coalition dedicated to recruiting and activating the evangelical community in support of his bid for re-election in 2020.
Evangelicals for Trump will actively promote and share the president’s mission to “keep America great” and his message of “promises made, promises kept” throughout the evangelical community across America.
“I am thrilled to be here in Miami, Florida, to officially launch one of the most important grassroot movements in American history, a first, Evangelicals for Trump!” said President Trump, adding, “I want to thank you very much for welcoming us here to El Rey Jesus Church, the largest Hispanic congregation in the United States of America. … There is no better place to begin the new year than right here with so many friends, families, pastors and patriots who believe in the power of prayer, the majesty of creation, and the love and grace of Jesus Christ.”
Evangelicals for Trump is comprised of world-renowned evangelical leaders, including pastors, speakers, musicians and influencers.
The stories they bring to the table include those of economic prosperity, religious freedom and pro-life initiates—all thanks to President Trump.
“From a booming economy to protecting the life of the unborn, the evangelical community has directly benefited from President Trump’s policies,” said Hannah Castillo, coalitions director of Donald J. Trump for President Inc. “We have never seen a president this passionate about our religious freedom and family values. President Trump has also appointed more than 180 federal judges, including two conservative Supreme Court justices who are sitting on the bench today. These are results that we can build on; this is a president we can count on.”
Through a robust national effort, Evangelicals for Trump will echo the positive results delivered for the evangelical community.
President Trump has worked to ensure that the American Dream has a chance to thrive again and Evangelicals for Trump will fight to help our President keep America great, Charisma News reported.
Reports show that more than 80% of white evangelicals voted for Trump in the 2016 election. But a crack in evangelical support opened up last month when the magazine Christianity Today wrote a blistering editorial on Trump’s “grossly immoral character.”
According to a 2019 survey here by the Pew Research Center, 43% of U.S. adults, or some 110 million people, identify with Protestantism; 59% of those, or 64 million are born-again or evangelical Christians.
