The nominees for the first-ever Royal Gospel Music Awards have been announced.
Top stars include Levixone with seven nominations, Coopy Bly and Exodus with six. Twina Herbert received five nods, Wilson Bugembe received four nominations while Grace Nakimera received three.
Kwezi Godfrey is among the nominees for his sensational worship single ‘Byona Bibyo’. Sandra Suubi, Sarah Serumaga, JK Shine and Price Love are nominees for Female Artist of the Year.
Gabbie Ntaate received a nod for ‘Live worship minister of the year’. Others in this category include Brian Lubega, Sam, Kimera Karl Griffins, Justine Nabbosa, Sachi Basaki and Duke Bryan.
While unveiling the awards earlier this year, the team leader, ‘King Of Radio’ Wesley, stated that the Royal Gospel Music Awards seek to “set a new culture.”
He noted that the awards “are not here to compete but rather to add another brick onto the culture of the gospel art.”
Although the pandemic slowed down both indoor and outdoor celebrations across Uganda, gospel music, for many, hasn’t stopped and this year’s awards will celebrate the most outstanding musical ministrations in the field.
Mr. Wesley expressed gratitude for the number of entries received to attest to the growth of the Awards.
The awarding ceremony will be held in December 2021.
