Christians have made an appeal to Church leaders including the founder of Kayiwa International University, Prof. Simeon Kayiwa to physically talk to Pastor Aloysius Bujjingo following recent controversy on marriage vows.
The group used social media to additionally urge Pastors to take a ‘more modest’ approach to addressing theological controversy without stirring strife and hatred.
Prof. Simeon Kayiwa, who is also vision bearer of Namirembe Christian fellowship, kept an eye on Pastor Bujjingo’s theological studies and graduation which happened last year.
“Our father Professor Simeon Kayiwa must help pastor Bujingo in bible Interpretation of scriptures. Or take him through hermeneutics (the branch of knowledge that deals with interpretation, especially of the Bible or literary texts.)” Apostle John Bunjo said in a statement that led to this development.
Many responders urged that no preacher of the gospel is above correction, adding that this ministry is essential in the Christian community.
“God’s Word is our unchanging standard,” one Facebook user commented. “If someone is violating His Word, then we have the responsibility to correct him in the proper way.”
“The church is the pillar and foundation of the truth, and its teachers are urged to speak “as oracles” for God,” another said.
Adding: “We need sensitivity to the Holy Spirit… Preachers of the gospel must correct and speak the truth in love. Speaking without love becomes arrogance, and speaking love without truth becomes squishy sentimentalism.”
In various comments, Pastors were cautioned against pride and arrogance.
