I came across one gentleman who attended our training at Watoto Church South with the young people about two months ago! Harry is his name! He noticed something had changed about his best friend Philip who was a part of our program (He attended the class by default because of Philip).
He would meet me after the classes and ask me questions about God. He made his point clear I hate God! I knew something was not right! Kept loving him so did the rest of the class! A book “Battling the Prince of Darkness” by Evelyn Christenson taught me something new about spiritual warfare! Before you ask someone if they are willing to receive Jesus you need to claim the name and blood of Jesus Christ against the devil who has held them captive!
I would always be praying for him as he talked to me! One day he finally opened up about his pain. He was an orphan. Angry at God for taking his father – Abandoned by the mother (A Christian) and rejected by Uncles and Aunties who promised to take care of him and his siblings.
I told him I can’t convince him by any means that God was not behind this. I showed him through scripture – How satan slanders God to man (Gen.3) and how he slanders man to God (Job 1:9), how he destroys, steals and kills (John 10:10)! He felt all the Christians around him were hypocrites and people who betray, not trustworthy, uncaring human beings speaking “Christianese”
A few months later, he prayed and asked Jesus to be Lord over his life as we prayed together! Love changed his life! No one could believe that Harry got saved! I knew God had a plan to use him to reach a very stubborn kind of unbelievers!
What a shame that many Christians are roadblocks instead of bridges to God! May I not be the stumbling block and turn people away from but rather to Jesus Christ! I believe that is why Jesus said if anyone causes anyone of these little ones to fall, it would have been better if a millstone is tied around their necks and thrown into the deep ocean!
