The annual World Happiness Report, released Wednesday, has ranked Uganda as the 12th unhappiest country in the world.
According to the new report, several of the unhappiest countries have been torn asunder by political conflict. All 15 of the unhappiest countries are either in Africa or the Middle East. Burundi took the first position, followed by Syria, Togo and then Afghanistan
Among the happy countries, Denmark come in at a cool No. 1, followed by Switzerland and Iceland.
The World Happiness Report is a survey of global societal well-being that ranks 158 countries by happiness levels using variables such as GDP per capita and healthy life expectancy. The report also includes extra factors such as social support, generosity, freedom to make life choices, and perceived absence of corruption.
The goal of the report is to guide progress toward social, economic and environmental development.
