Bishop David Livingstone Kiganda has urged Christians in Uganda to individually prepare and position themselves for revival before they can witness it spread out across the city, and nation at large.
Kiganda, who is the founder and senior pastor of Christianity Focus Centre Church, located in Mengo Kisenyi in Kampala, explained Thursday that one of the first things that the body of Christ must do if they are to witness spiritual revival is to recommit themselves to a life exemplified by personal holiness.
He urged that there must be a renewed zeal are deeper commitments to the spiritual disciplines of prayer, Bible study, worship, missions and evangelism.
The preacher also called the Church to turn from Idols and serve the true God.
“Before we pray for the revival of a nation, we may need to first pray for our individual revival,” he said.
This was during the Annual Prayer Conference hosted by Pastor Michael Kimuli of Christian Discipleship Ministries International (CDMI) at Kampala Parents School.
“Let us start by reconciling with God and restoring our relationship with God,” he continued.
Bishop Kiganda cautioned that where there is no revival there is death and stagnancy.
However, he continued, “the good news is that God can revive that which died.”
“Are you still excited about salvation and being a child of God? Do you still feel the joy of salvation? May God restore your joy of salvation so that you will have discipline to know what to do and when. So that the material things do not become your idols,” he went on, quoting Psalms 51:12.
Bishop Kiganda described idols as anything we trust in, depend on, give ourselves to, love, esteem, or treasure more than God.
“Idols are things that take God’s place in your life, it can be a tv, the phone or internet,” he stated.
“It is time to prevail over that which prevails over you. It does not matter what you have been through, God is giving you another chance,” he said.
