While speaking at the wedding reception of Mr. Isaac Aijuka Sserwadda and his bride, Marion Arinda on Friday, President Museveni used this occasion that had gathered several well-known Clerics to thank the church for nurturing young people who are serving Uganda.
He said it is evident that “families with strong religious foundation have raised good cadres who are serving the country well.”
“When NRM took Government, there was a challenge of poor tax collection of only 4% of the GDP. This was in contrast to 18% of GDP that was being collected in other countries. The rest of the funds were being stolen,” he said, noting that government later recruited youths who come from families that have a religious background to serve in revenue collection and in the Army.
Mr. Isaac Aijuka Sserwadda, an employee of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and his bride, Marion Arinda had successfully taken their vows at All Saints’ Cathedral, Nakasero – Kampala.
They then ushered their guests to a colorful reception at Lugogo Main Exhibition Hall in Kampala.
I am glad that young people are following my advice to get married and raise families, President Museveni said.
As sources report, Aijuka Sserwadda is the son of Mr. Eliasaph Serwadda of Nkaka, Bubaare Sub-County Kashaari County Mbarara district while the bride is the daughter of the late Myres Byarugaba of Nyarubungo, Bukiro Sub-County also in Kashaari County, Mbarara district.
KCCA Executive Director, Jennifer S Musisi congratulated Isaac and Marion, wishing them success in marriage. She described the groom as a hardworking and person of integrity.
Clergy present included Pr Robert and Jessica Kayanja, Dr Joseph Sserwada, Bishop David Livingstone Kiganda, Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga [Catholic-Hierarchy], Bishop Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa of Ankole Diocese, Central Buganda Bishop, Michael Lubowa among others.
