The First Lady and minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni has asked God to be “Chief Guest” at the forthcoming presidential inauguration scheduled for Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at the Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala.

She said God “will take the highest seat of honour,” adding that through His presence at the inauguration, “nations will know that we are a people whose God is the Lord.”

Mrs Museveni was speaking during the national thanksgiving prayers, for the “peaceful and victorious election process”, organised by Pastor Patience Rwabwogo of Covenant Nations Church on Saturday.

State-linked news daily, the New Vision reports that the main sermon was delivered by Bishop Joshua Lwere of the National Fellowship of Born again Pentecostal Churches of Uganda (NFBPC), with Pastors Robert Kayanja and Precious Magezi, among many in attendance.

Addressing journalists at Naguru Police headquarters last month, UPDF spokesperson, Brig Flavia Byekwaso said they have got “credible information” about a section of Ugandans planning to disrupt the swearing in ceremony, adding that security agencies had confiscated posters to be used in the protests with words of hate speech that incite violence to the members of public.

According to Hon Esther Mbayo, the Minister of the Presidency, at least eleven (11) Heads of State have confirmed to attend the inauguration. According to sources, all invited guests are expected to have a fresh COVID-19 certificate and follow the SOPs.

“I thank all of you for coming here where the inauguration is going to take place to ask God’s blessing for this site and occasion and thank God for all the things He has given us in the past,” President Yoweri Museveni said at the occasion.

“I can see that you still remember the bible. Because there is the parable of the 10 lepers. They were healed but nine did not come back to thank God. There is one leper who has come back. When you prayed before the elections and God blessed us, I am one of the ten lepers who came back to thank God,” he said.
