More than ever before, several men, women and families are coming out to seek forgiveness, claiming full accountability for trashing, blackmailing and dragging the names of several renowned Pastors and ministries into the mud?

Has God had enough of what we had almost become used to in media or is it being staged, as other people claim?

The latest, Pastor Imelda Namutebi, founder and senior Pastor of Liberty Worship Centre International – Lugala was left in shock on Sunday when a man, identified as Mubiru Hamza, confessed that he was behind the stories that flooded several newspapers, claiming that the Pastor changes into a number of evil creatures, and that she was initially mistress to husband Dr. Thomas Kula.

This confession follows several that have been reported since October.

Pr Robert Kayanja, founder and senior pastor of Miracle Center Cathedral witnessed the same during the Church’s ’77 Days Of Glory’ deliverance services when a family rose up and claimed full responsibility of the wine URA impounded from his then-unfinished house along lake Victoria years back.

At that time, Enock Walugembe, an official with URA alleged that the wine they had impounded last from Pr Kayanja’s residence was the fourth butch in six months.

Many believed the allegations right, others chose to abandon the church. Pr. Kayanja’s heart was torn apart as several opportunities closed up due to what flooded the internet.

This report grew viral, tarnishing the image of Pr Robert Kayanja, who was on 31st August 2006 prompted to release a press statement so as to clear the air.

This press statement received minimal attention compared to the confession a lady identified as Brenda Kasibo made on behalf of her family on November 8th, 2016.

Before that confession could clear the air, those who claimed responsibility for the homoxesuality allegations against the Pastor (Kayanja) surfaced.

Musasizi Robert’s asked for forgiveness upon the damages he brought to Pastor Kayanja and his family.

As all these confessions fared, Pr. Robert Kayanja at the pulpit, joined by his wife and kids shade tears at the memory of the humiliation the were accorded from the general public.

This very week again, Pr Aloysius Bugingo of House of Prayer Ministries is reported to have seen his fellow church minister Pr Martin David Sebuguzi with whom they were in conflict return to be pardoned.

It has always saddened Christians in Uganda over the years as we’ve watched church leaders go down the drain through media, something that brings reproach on the church of Jesus Christ.

The enemy loves seeing the image of the church tarnished – that way, many are drawn away from coming to Christ –  those in Christ grow in doubt, falling out.

There is a power above man, and that is God. I believe in a God who protects his own and answers prayer. I believe in a God who hears the cry of the afflicted and brings all men to justice. You cannot attack the anointed and live peacefully thereafter. (1 Samuel 24:6)

Could all this be comedy? The LORD sees clearly what a man does, examining every path he takes. (Proverbs 5:21)

We have to learn from this; whatever is done in the dark, will always come to light. God is no respecter of persons.

The experience of public shame on the Internet is like spilling coke on your shirt at a black-tie event: everyone wants to see it, and it’s devastating for the one who endures it.

What should you do in the current events? Pray for your church’s leaders.  Encourage them. Let them know you are following their godly example.

Understand that they are not perfect, but continue nonetheless to call them to the highest level of godliness and purity. The church must have leaders who are genuinely above reproach – that is why the media eye is constantly upon them – Anything less is an abomination.
