International Christian Concern (ICC), a ministry organization that exists to bandage the wounds of persecuted followers of Christ, has stepped up to support a mother of three in Uganda who was disowned by her family for receiving Christ as her personal Lord and Savior.
ICC reports that Nalubega Janat is just one of several converts from Islam to Christianity across the globe who often loose relationships, security, and other basic comforts for becoming followers of Jesus.
Nalubega Janat converted to Christianity in 2014, and her family immediately disowned her.
Boldly, she continued in her new faith, along with her husband, with whom she had two more children. However, years into their marriage, her husband became abusive, according to ICC.
“Unable to return home to her family without converting back to Islam, Janat was forced to take her children and flee the abuse, with nowhere to turn for help,” ICC observed.
Janat later found a temporary place to stay, thankfully. But time was running out, and she needed to find a way to earn an income to sustain her family.
ICC first heard about Janat’s ordeal in October 2021, and visited her in Uganda.
During a meeting with her and her pastor, Janet informed ICC that before having children, she had taken courses to become a hairdresser. She had always dreamed of working in a salon but never imagined she would be given such an opportunity.
The ministry organization took it upon itself to support Janat, and fulfilled her dream of owning a shop.
“We took Janat to purchase all of the necessary supplies for her store, including a sink, hair products, mirrors, hair extensions, braiding tools, a television, standing dryers, and more,” ICC said.
With boxes of supplies filling the car, Janat was then brought to her shop, which had four months of rent pre-paid. She also received additional capital to get her business off the ground.
Through tears, she told ICC that she was going to use the salon to spread the gospel and tell all of her customers how Christ cared for her in her darkest moments.

Uganda Christian News learnt that last month, a group of Muslim extremists in eastern Uganda seriously wounded a pastor and his wife in an attack on a meeting at their church in Nansonko village, Kibuku District on Nov. 18. This is because the Pastor, Jude Sitaalo led five young Muslim men, ages 19 to 27, to Christ.
“I had been warned three times with threatening messages,” Pastor Sitaalo told media, adding that the threats were made both face-to-face and in phone texts, with one stating, “Pastor, let our children come back to Islam, and if not we are going to kill you and destroy your church.”
He said he and his wife, Naisiga Sitaalo, were meeting with 10 other church members when he saw a mosque leader leading a group of Muslims who intruded into the service at about 7:35 p.m.
“They got hold of me and started beating me with sticks while one of them cut me with a long knife,” Pastor Sitaalo said. “One member of the church and my wife tried to rescue me, but they were seriously beaten up with sticks.”
“We are suffering for pastoring converts from Islam,” the pastor told Morning Star News from his hospital bed.
Pastor Sitaalo said that after recovering, he would seek advice from church elders before deciding whether to file a police report.
