Prophecy is something that has been a part of God’s ministry to His people. There are men and women who have been anointed by the Holy Spirit to speak forth God’s word to God’s people.

Prophecy is given for comfort, exhortation, and edification. To the Church, it is a legitimate, valid gift for today.

It is recently that Uganda got to know about Prophet Elvis Mbonye.

Since officiating the Zoe fellowship meetings in the City capital, Elvis Mbonye has had a consistent record of startling prophetic revelations and predictions accompanied by their confirmation and fulfillment.

One would be curious to know how it all started; was he this Prophetic right from the start? How did he come to know Christ? Has it always been easy Prophesying?

Well, a few months ago, The Observer introduced its readers to Prophet Elvis through a one on one interview. It is from this that we learn that Elvis’ journey started 19 years ago when he made up his mind to became an unwavering believer.

The encounter: During his first year at Makerere University in 1998, Mbonye returned home to find his sister had invited her friends to pray in their home in Kitintale. He says he could not stop mocking the group as they prayed in the living room.

“When it was time for them to leave, I also bowed down to pray. I remember asking the Lord to forgive me, and seconds later, I started speaking in [tongues] a language I didn’t know,” he narrated to the newspaper. “I was very shocked. I tried to hold my tongue to speak slowly in English but it just twisted and I continued to speak in tongues.”

With his sister watching, Mbonye remembers what seemed like an electric shock shooting through him and the entire family was caught up in prayers that attracted neighbours one at a time. The next day, Mbonye had the power to prophesy, starting with his family members.

“It would not take long before those around him and others along his path would recognize the prophetic abilities he possessed. His reputation as a prophet would thus spread. Besides prophesying.”

In 2012, he secured a place in Kamwokya where he prayed and prophesied to people before starting the Tuesday fellowships – a day he says was suggested by God.

Since then, the church has on multiple occasions shifted due to the ever increasing number, now at Kololo Air strip.

In all the prophecies, Mbonye says his first and most outstanding prophecy that turned out devastating was foretelling the exact day and month of the 2004 Asian tsunami. This prophesy ushered him into the realms of national and international prophesy.
