Attending a gospel crusade and business workshop in Masaka, the State Minister for Tourism Godfrey Kiwanda Ssuubi wanted Christians and Church leaders to take away an important message: This earthly existence is meant for more than just shuffling through each day.
To truly walk in the way of Christ, Minister Kiwanda who doubles as the Mityana North Member of Parliament told multitudes they must strive to thrive, and engage in social activities that will not add value to their life.
The minister shared practical ways to save money, deal with life’s pressures and also highlighted ways Christians can fight poverty, and take advantage of economic opportunities surrounding them.
“Success is a choice, no one wakes up and finds it laying at the door, they all make a choice and a plan to become successful,” Minister Kiwanda said on Saturday, which was the 3rd day of the crusade.
He shared insight and nuggets that “have worked for the church to move from the formerly despised ‘biwempe’ to not just good buildings, but also [stand out as] wealthy Christians.”
The gathering was organised by Dr Joseph Serwadda who earlier announced a season of ‘Economic Evangelism’ with crusades happening in various parts of the country.
The inaugural meeting was held in Iganga, a town in the Eastern Region of Uganda in September, before moving to Masaka. With his team, Dr Serwadda is expected to also camp in Mbale this November.
The Presiding Apostle of the Born-again faith used his address at the Liberation Square to reassure listeners of the power of God’s Word.
He quoted Hebrews 4:12.
“The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart,” the phrase says.
Dr Serwadda said God’s miracles are permanent and that salvation through Christ brings stability in homes.
“God will take away all shame that has manifested itself through sicknesses that are hard to even disclose in public,” he said, later quoting 2 Corinthians 4:13, “Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak.”
Dr Serwadda urged that one of God’s greatest longing for believers is that they can be transformed. He urged the congregation to face the impossible with faith.
“‘God can do anything,” Dr Serwadda said.
The ministry witnessed several miracles of healing, and many were delivered from demonic oppression.
Testimonies shared on Friday included that of a man whose sight was restored after over 40 years. In 1970, a snake spit venom in his eyes rendering him blind. He was so happy to see the light of day again.
Also present was Pastor Jamada Kikomeko who shared a testimony about his conversion from Islam to Christianity.
Dr. Joseph Serwadda, accompanied by a team of area Pastors visisted Army Hall about 200 metres from the Liberation Square crusade grounds.
This, he revealed, is the place where he knelt 44 years ago and accept Jesus as His Lord and Savior.
