Before families became what they are now, strengthening this institution was a sacred duty for parents, children, extended family members, leaders, teachers, and individual members of the Church.

People who have lived through a disaster away from family never say, “All I could think about was my bank account.” They almost always say, “All I could think about was my wife and children.” It shouldn’t require a disaster for us to know this truth.

But too often, we let earning money, chasing pleasure, or even the needs of people outside our families divert our attention.

For Mavuno Church Kampala, ministry to families matters, and this is what they have gone a step further to demonstrate while celebrating their 7th anniversary that took place on Sunday at Kampala Parents Sports field.

The importance of spiritually strengthening families is taught clearly in the scriptures.

Through the ‘Mavuno Fest’ that gathered believers from all walks of life from 9am to 5pm, the fast growing Ministry with 10 churches in the Mavuno Church Family used this platform for nothing but to revitalize life in Christian families coupled with enjoyment and food.

Mavuno Church was founded in 2005 by Nairobi Chapel in Kenya. In 2010, Mavuno shared it’s strategic plan to plant churches in every major city in Africa.

Mavuno Kampala was birthed out of this vision in May 2010 by Pastor Kevin Nderitu, who committed to commute from Nairobi to Kampala every two weeks.

In 2011, Pastor Anthony Njoroge and his family stepped into the role of senior pastor to bring Mavuno Kampala to the next level of church growth.  After 4 years the church had grown to about 700 members and had relocated to Kampala Parents School in order to handle the explosive growth.

In October 2015, Pastor Njoroge and his family handed over the senior leadership role to Pastor Waweru Njenga and his family.

This 7th anniversary gathered renowned faces that include Ruyonga, Mike-O, Zabuli, Kiro, The Collective UG, performers from Isaac Rucci among others.
