Marital conflict: God wants you to reconcile – Pr Bugembe

'This is the same gospel we preach; forgive one another.'

KAMPALA – Well known Pastor and gospel musician Wilson Bugembe has urged that marriage thrives even through the most difficult seasons when couples choose open and honest conversations leading to reconciliation and forgiveness.

Regardless of how hard it can be, Wilson Bugembe strongly believes that divorce should not be listed as an option for settling dispute.

For the Worship House lead Pastor, married couples should seek to apply the bible in daily life.

Pastor Wilson Bugembe made these remarks on Thursday during an interview with local media. He was addressing reports surrounding Pr Aloysius Bugingo’s marriage alleged to be hanging by a thread.

“Every family experiences contention. Difference is that when you bring your fight to the general public, every one will automatically get to know about it,” he said.

“For any marriage, most especially when you have gone through thick and thin to get where you are – it is not to late to reconcile your differences,” he added.

Pr Bugembe explained that disputes within the body of Christ bring shame to the born-again fraternity.

“It is undeniable, their (referring to Pr Aloysius Bugingo and wife) squabble is now out in the public, but what next? From what I saw in media, it looks as through the daughter lost her relationship with the father. She seemed hurt. Through dialogue, Pr Bugingo should seek to resolve the tension between him and the family,” he said.

“This is the same gospel we preach; forgive one another. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also, isn’t this what we preach? Forgive each other seventy times seven times,” he added.

“As the church, everyone is on the look out at what we do wrong. Pr Bugingo has to call his family back. 29 years is a very long time for one to give up now. As the Church, if you cannot forgive your wife, and children, you cannot profess Christ to be your Lord and Savior. He was nailed for our transgressions. I am not perfect, no one is. This is an opportune moment for Pr Bugingo to show the country the gospel,” he said.

Elsewhere, Pastor Cyrus Rod, a marriage expert and author addressed the matter in subject saying “when a man loves a woman, her wrongs are never seen as stumbling blocks against his love but stepping stones towards loving her more.”

“A man’s enemies shall be the members of his own household. The first member of your household is your wife. If she has become your enemy, Jesus commands the best way to deal with this enemy in your bed. Love! Not hate her!” he said.

“Pastors must know better that if your wife is hostile to you and your God, you must love her, i.e not divorce her and get a new girl. Bless her not curse. Do her good and the greatest good is to let no other take her place. Remember, she is in the shoes you once wore as an enemy of God but God loved you still. Pastor, this is the test of loving your wife like Christ loved the church. Pass it and reveal Jesus or fail it by revealing yourself as greater,” he concluded.
