Shortly after the birth of Jesus Christ, three wise men from the East arrived in Jerusalem to worship Him, according to Matthew 2:1–12
“For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him,” the trio, caring gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh said.
Pastor Jackson Senyonga of Christian Life Church, Kavule, Makerere – Kampala has said in several countries around the world nowadays, many celebrate, but only a few worship as they commemorate the birth of Christ Jesus on the 25th of December.
The Top TV and radio team leader said this while addressing believers on Monday during the Church Christmas service that kicked off with fervent carols and ministration from the Church youth.
“It wasn’t just a time of celebration, but a time of worship. Celebrating is getting excited about the day, giving gifts to each other, buying cloths and eating that meal you have been desiring for a long time, visiting friends and family members and enjoying the day and going into that music gala but worship is different,” Pr Senyonga said.
“Worship says; I stop and you [Jesus] start. Worship says; your kingdom come and not mine any more. Worship says; I give my allegiance and devotion to you. King Herod couldn’t do that – many people don’t do that – everybody celebrates but very few people worship,” he added

Jesus was born to do something so significant, yet so difficult for the rest of the world. Angels, prophets, priests, Kings had tried to reconcile people back to God but all was in vain. God had promised, right after the fall – He looked right into the eyes of the serpent that had lied to Adam and Eve and defeated them in the garden of Eden, and told him – the seed of the woman shall bruise you on the head.
He was mentioning Jesus that day – He was declared the Savior of humanity. But between then and that time of Christmas, God had tried to bring people back to Himself, He sent prophet after prophet, messenger after messenger, priests, kings, he sent the law and all the commandments trying to claim man and save man but every one of the prophets had failed. Moses himself, one of the greatest people that have ever lived said; therefore, the Lord will send you a prophet – and he declared the coming of the savior
One after the other, they declared His coming stating they had not fulfilled the mission of bringing people back to God. Isiah, powerful as he way, declared; I am not the savior; “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
The world laid in wait, nothing was happening. Sin was rampant, the devil had taken over – and nothing was changing. Every prophet was pointing to [someone]. The last one was John the Baptist. He came and people thought he was the Savior because he was different. He wasn’t eating normal food. His clothing was different. Some thought it was him but he declared; “There comes one mightier than I after me, the [latchet] of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose. I have baptized you with water; but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
The world was standing on the age , Jesus was getting ready to come – and on that Christmas night, something happened. The angles had before that spoken to Mary and Joseph – telling them that the savior was now in proximity, in the womb of a woman – the clock was ticking. Months went by and finally Mary was heavy. There was a census for everyone to registered. God knew that He would be born in Bethlehem because according to scriptures, he was supposed to be born there.
God can change the whole nation to move in a particular direction because of one purpose. A census was created at the right time so all that scripture could be fulfilled for Jesus to be born in the place he was born.
…When God is ready to save the world, He does not send a… tank or greatest the military force you have ever seen – He sends a very fragile baby – but inside of that child, he has placed his power, anointing, will and purpose. And whatever is born of God, over comes the world.
…The child was born and the stars where in charge of giving directions to where he was. May the heavens sing over you for what is in your heart – and that is Jesus Christ, son of the living God. Once you start your life with Christ everything becomes possible.
